CHRIS LINDSEY: WORSHIP AND YOUTH MINISTER

Tell us about your family.

I adore my wife, Vicki. We have been married almost 9 years. Vicki and I have 2 wonderful kids: Genesis (5) and Graham (2). Genesis is already a performer and singer. Graham loves superheroes and playing LEGO Batman. We have a busy, on-the-go, and fun life!

What hobbies/activities do you enjoy?

Playing guitar and listening to all types music. My wife and I really enjoy watching movies and TV together. I love getting out into nature, going to concerts, Apple products, song writing, playing XBOX with the kids, and great conversations. I love reading and am a self-professed “coffee snob”.

What excites you about LRCC?

We have a new vision and direction for our church. It’s been exciting to see our people wake up, catch the vision, and join the mission with passion.  We have a strong commitment to community- no one is a number at LRCC. AND I love expanding our worship to our monthly instrumental services called GENESIS.

What’s a good book/movie you’ve read/watched lately?

Just saw Avengers and I’m going to have to go again. Excellent movie!

I am also currently reading Thriving As An Artist by Rory Noland. It’s a great book to walk through with my praise team.

Please share a favorite scripture with us.

“The LORD God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with His love and rejoice over You with singing.” – Zephaniah 3:17.  This is one of my all time favorite passages in the Bible. It speaks comfort and peace to our busy and hectic schedules. It shows a picture of loving father caring for a hurt and broken child. And it always makes me wonder what God’s voice sounds like.

RYAN SMITH:  Preaching Minister

Tell us about your family.

Sarah and I have been married for almost 14 years.   We have always considered ourselves a ministry team, wherever God calls us.  We have two boys:  Ethan (7) and Wyatt (4).  Ethan is my scientist/engineer who has a tender heart and has already given his life to the Lord.   Wyatt is my wrecking ball.   “Fear” is not in his vocabulary and is willing to try anything.  Thankfully, they both still love to crawl up in my lap and cuddle.

What hobbies/activities do you enjoy?

I like to do just about anything, but I am not a master of any of them.  I love sports (watching and playing).  I played tennis in high school and have just recently rekindled my love for the sport again.   Sarah and I love the outdoors and have passed that love down to our boys.  We go camping, fishing, and hiking whenever we can.   I love playing games and I am very competitive.  I have learned to dial it back, but I still don’t have it in me to let you win.  I have not always been a “natural” learner, but I am growing in my love for learning.

What excites you about LRCC?

I truly believe LRCC is on the verge of transforming into a vibrant community.  Our people have experienced their fair share of knocks, but the dust has settled, and the ones left standing seem ready to come out fighting.   To be honest, the future is wide open or unknown for LRCC, and I believe that is what excites me the most.

What’s a good book/movie you’ve read/watched lately?

“Going to the movies” has become a rarity in my life for many different reasons, though I still love watching them.  Sarah and I do most of our watching on Netflis, and we spend most of our time watching TV shows.  Some of our favorites are:  Merlin, Sherlock Holmes, Psyche, Burn Notice, The Mentalist, Warehouse 13, and Bones.

The last book I read was The Pastor: A Memoir by Eugene Petterson.  It was very convicting.

Please share a favorite scripture with us.

“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”    -Joshua 1:6-9

The book of Joshua is my favorite book in the Bible.   Moving to Anderson, Indiana has been an adventure and a leap of faith for my family.   These words have become very personal to me in my new role at LRCC.   I feel a close kinship to Joshua and it is my desire to walk as he walked.
